Oriental Small-Clawed Otter (Aonyx cinerea)

Origin: Southeast Asia
Sighted at: Texas Snake Farm, New Braunfels, Texas

The Oriental small-clawed otter is the smallest otter in the world. Their small paws are more than just a novelty – the atypical short length of their claws allows them an incredible degree of manual dexterity, allowing them to catch prey with their hands, root through brush and mud for food, or even pry open shells.

They’re pretty cute.
