Gypsy Chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus)

Origin: ?!
Sighted at: White Street Pier, Key West, FL

The gypsy chicken – a staple of the Key West experience. The whole of the island is covered in these goddamn birds. They’re protected by law, on account of being a keystone of cultural significance. You can’t hassle them, or catch them and eat them, or hit them with your car, or throw them into a volcano. And so they’re just… everywhere. Cluck-cluck-clucking away.

That’s the last of the Key West animal photos! So long, Cayo Hueso – as always, I hope it’s a long, long time before I see you again.
