Eurasian Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus)
Origin: Eurasia and Africa
Sighted at: Sherwood Forest Faire, McDade, TX
The last of my photos from the birds-of-prey show at the Renn Faire. The kestrel is a wide-ranging hunter. Its scientific name, falco, comes from the Latin word “falx,” meaning sickle – referring to its razor sharp claws!
